Ponte Avis Suspension Bridge
Driving time: Just over an hour.
This is a fantastic beginner hike where you can take an easy walk to a very cool suspension bridge.
I like this one because you don’t have to drive far for a really cool outdoor experience – it’s right in your backyard. It’s also great that this one is accessible with a short, easy hike.

Croce di Lumignano
Driving time: 20 minutes.
The Croce di Lumignano hike is an easy one that you can even squeeze in after work.
In this hike, you’ll walk up to reach the cross on the top of the hill (and get a nice leg workout on the way.) There are a couple of trail options to get to the cross, so I recommend reading my full guide to decide which is best for you.
Trail #3 is the easier of the options.

Silan Falls
Driving time: 40 minutes.
This is a great one if you want to get out of the heat because it’s shaded for most of the trail.
There’s a small waterfall area that’s a nice spot for a picnic lunch and a shallow pond at the bottom of the waterfall for the kids to splash in.

Monte Cengio
Driving time: Just under an hour.
This is a cool hike where you can explore WWI tunnels, trenches, and see some gorgeous views as well.
I’d say only option 1 or 2 in my full guide are good for kids. The long trail might be too long – unless your kids really love hiking.

Lago Di Fimon
Driving time: 20 minutes.
Lago di Fimon is a convenient, close spot if you don’t really want to hike but you want to get outdoors.
It’s really just a walk around the lake on flat ground so you don’t need a full guide to plan a visit there.
Keep an eye out for the pretty swans on the lake and enjoy the stroll.
Lago di Corlo
Driving time: Just over an hour.
Lago di Corlo is a really pretty lake to visit that’s not too far away.
It’s a nice spot to just spend some time outdoors, but you can also hike around the lake if you want something more active.
If you want to keep it chill, you can walk along the lake to see the bridge or have a picnic in the sun.

Monte Berico
Driving time: 10 minutes.
This is a really easy and close one that’s perfect when you first move to Vicenza.
It’s another one that doesn’t require a full guide to plan a visit. All you need to do is park at the top (there’s a parking area by the panoramic view spot), walk down to the bottom, then walk back up.
The steep hill makes it a great spot if you want to get in an outdoor workout but don’t want to drive too far.
You can also pair this with a visit to Parco Querini easily.
Marostica Castle
Driving time: 30 minutes.
Now, if you’d like another city-style hike, head over to Marostica and hike up to their castle.
It’s a nice walk the cobblestone path uphill to the top of the castle where you can get some nice views over the town.
The good news with this one is that it’s easy to get there with public transport, so if you’re really new and don’t have your car yet, try this one.
I also have a post with more public transport friendly day trips from Vicenza here.
Brent De L’Art
Driving time: Just under 2 hours.
Brent De L’Art is the grand canyon of Italy and an easy, family-friendly hike.
It requires a little longer of a drive, but it’s worth it to see the impressive gorge and have a day out by the water.

Parco Colli Euganei
Driving time: 40 minutes.
There are a few trails in the area to choose from and there’s also an adventure park – Parco Avventura Le Fiorine, you could visit.
I went to Monte Madonna and hiked around there up to the top to check out the views.
Grotte del Caglieron
Driving time: An hour and a half.
For something a little different, you can visit Grotte del Caglieron for caves and waterfalls.
It’s more of a commercialized spot than a wild hike, so the paths are very easy to follow and it’s perfect for families.
Bring some change for parking and wear a good pair of shoes (not flip flops) because it can get a little slippery.
Here is the Grotte del Caglieron website for more information.
Madonna Della Corona
Driving time: Just over an hour.
This church on the cliff is an impressive sight to see and very photogenic.
The hike to get there is super easy, more like a walk on a road, but it’s steep on the way back up so you’ll get a little leg workout in.
If you need to stop to catch your breath, there are plenty of open areas along the way.
For a longer hike, you can start from the bottom and hike up and I have more details for both options in my full guide.

Gnome Village
Driving time: 1 hour.
While not a traditional hike, you will be walking all over the path to the different gnome houses so I feel it deserves a place on the list.
The kids will love this one because you follow the path outdoors to visit real-life (wink) gnome villages.
It’s really well done, imaginative, and fun for a family day out.

Torrente Canali
Driving time: An hour and a half.
This bright blue pond is just beautiful.
It’s cold but beautiful.
The water is a bright blue color and it makes for a great spot to have a picnic while the kids splash in the water.
There are also hiking trails all around if you want to explore the area a little more.
